Identifying Pharmacogenomic Predictors of Methotrexate Response and Metabolite Biotransformation in JIA, or PROMOTE (Predicting Response of Methotrexate Treatment)
Project Period:
Grant Category:
EC Biosample Stimulus Fund
Disease Area:
Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA)
The PIs are Mara Becker and Sue Thompson and they hold an R01 from NICHD to evaluate the genetic risk factors contributing to methotrexate response. They plan to develop an algorithm that will predict methotrexate response in JIA patients. Currently, the PIs run the PROMOTE study, which collects blood based biosamples in the CARRA network. The EC Stimulus funds would allow the PIs to increase recruitment and obtain DNA from the saliva of JIA patients already enrolled in the registry who initiated MTX and have baseline and follow up data about treatment response. These funds will help the investigators boost requirement, which has not been as robust as expected given the COVID-19 pandemic.
