Evaluation of disease characteristics, treatment, and activity scoring tools in childhood-onset Takayasu Arteritis

Project Period:
2026-2027

Grant Category:
Data Analysis Support Grant

Disease Area:
Vasculitis

Childhood-onset Takayasu arteritis (c-TAK) is a rare form of vasculitis (blood vessel inflammation). The scarcity of patients is a challenge to conducting clinical studies. Currently, only a handful of studies describe c-TAK with small numbers of patients. Few existing patient registries internationally collect data from children with c-TAK. To address this lack of data, the International Collaborative for Childhood-Onset Takayasu Arteritis (icTAK) registry was created in 2023 and has since collected data from over 150 patients across 4 continents. We plan to analyze the data from this cohort to better understand the clinical features and disease course of c-TAK. The results of our initial endeavors will inform future directions for study.
