Predicting uveitis onset in children with juvenile idiopathic arthritis
Project Period:
Grant Category:
EC Biosample Stimulus Fund
Disease Area:
Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA)
Dr. Angeles-Han has secured an R01 for this research. She proposes to study children with JIA to understand genetic risk factors for uveitis diagnosis. Additionally, she will use GWAS methodology to compare children with and without uveitis to identify genetic risk for eye disease. She intends to use this stimulus fund to extend her biosample collection within the CARRA network to include 42 JIA patients with and 42 JIA patients without uveitis. This extended biosamples collection increase the sample size, potentially improving power for discovery, and increase the reach of her study, which was impacted by the global pandemic.
