Children with rheumatic diseases and their care givers often face many stressors that impact their daily lives. These stressors can impact the child’s social connections with their peers and their emotional well-being. In addition, stressors placed on children with chronic diseases leads to a higher incidence of depression and anxiety. In order to improve the care we provide to our patients, we propose a multi-site project to implement depression screening in our pediatric rheumatology clinics. Our goal is to screen our patients with rheumatic diseases for depression.
