Research by Jonathan Hausmann, MD, CARRA member and assistant professor of rheumatology at Boston Children's Hospital, was recently featured in MEDPAGE TODAY noting the effectiveness of social media in reaching parents of children with rheumatologic diseases.

Dr. Hausmann's research was first published in ACR Open Rheumatology. Among the findings:

  • Children with rare rheumatologic diseases were overrepresented in the social media group relative to registry patients
  • 19% of the social media group had autoinflammatory diagnoses, compared with 0.5% of CARRA patients
  • 9% of the social media group had autoimmune encephalitis versus no one in the registry
