The CARRA Registry Internship Experience

As the inaugural interns for the CARRA Registry in 2016, we were both excited and unsure what to expect. Intern Registry projects have varied quite a bit, and ranged from those that are research based to those that further the development of the Registry itself.  For example, Sarah is using Registry data to look more closely at medication use in JIA, which has resulted in an ACR abstract and a manuscript in the works, while Mary Beth is collaborating with several international registries to compare systemic arthritis patient populations. In regards to Registry growth, we worked on the addition of new diseases to the Registry, including systemic lupus erythematosus and related conditions, juvenile dermatomyositis and scleroderma.

CARRA Registry Intern

Applications Due: March 14, 2018

CARRA is now accepting applications for up to two CARRA Registry Intern positions. The CARRA Registry Internship will require 25% effort for one year. The internship may be eligible for a one year renewal, depending on availability of funds and/or intern productivity.  This opportunity is supported through funds received via our partnership with the Arthritis Foundation.

Submissions for CARRA-AF Small grant and Fellows Small grants will be opening soon. The online submission form will be live by the second week of February. An email to all members will be sent when the online form is live. For more information about CARRA-AF grants and submission requirements, check out the Grants page on the CARRA website.

Registration and housing for the CARRA Annual Scientific Meeting will open in the coming weeks. An email announcing its opening will be sent when it is available.

To register for the meeting as a CARRA member, you will need to be a current 2018 member. Renewing your membership now will save you time when registration opens.


Registry Announcements

JDM/JPM Enrollment Criteria Expanded!

CARRA has modified the existing criteria to allow a longer period of prior treatment (up to 12 weeks) for enrolling patients with Juvenile Dermatomyositis (JDM) and Juvenile Polymyositis (JPM) into the CARRA Registry.

Congratulations to...

The Registry teams at University of Vermont Medical Center, University of Minnesota, and University of Utah Hospitals and Clinics for enrolling each of their site’s first FROST patient!

Enrollment Update (as of 1/26/18)

Remember to make every effort to enter data for the 12 month visit for STOP-JIA patients (this is the primary endpoint visit)!


2018 National Juvenile Arthritis Conference Travel Awards
Travel Award applications (formerly scholarships) for the 2018 National Juvenile Arthritis Conference are now being accepted! Interested families and young adults (ages 18-25) are welcome to apply for a travel award that will assist in the cost of traveling to or attending this year’s conference in Seattle, Washington or Washington, D.C. Applications must be submitted by February 26, 2018 to be considered. Families can access application at https://www.arthritis.org/jaconference.
