Carol Wallace: Visionary, Innovator, Collaborator, and Clinician
Carol Wallace, visionary, outstanding clinician, mentor, partner, and researcher, retires from the University of Washington, but she’s not leaving pediatric rheumatology or CARRA! A tribute to Carol was provided in a video developed by Ching Hung, Lisa Rider, Anne Stevens, Luke Reichley and others who have worked with Carol as fellows, as faculty, as researchers and was shown at the CARRA annual meeting in Toronto. There were plenty of smiles and tears as memories were shared.
Norm Ilowite, former CARRA Chair, provided a wonderful synopsis of working with Carol over the years. Norm shared anecdotes of their time together at the University of Washington that had the audience laughing and noted Carol as a model of equality.
Carol remains the Chair of the Board of Directors for CARRA, and she stated, “I am so proud of the work that so many have done to make CARRA what it is today, and I am honored to continue to work with the other Board members and the CARRA leadership to advance our shared scientific agenda and broaden the organizational base, growing the next generation of researchers in pediatric rheumatology.”
